Smell the E-liquid

Data from the counterfeit FLUM production line seized in Shenzhen last month showed that 42% of the inferior e-liquids were directly mixed with food-grade flavorings, and the pungent smell caused inspectors to cough uncontrollably. This “strawberry scent” that smells like dish soap is the first step in distinguishing authenticity.

Here is a harsh trick for everyone: take a manometer and connect it to the atomization pod (a ¥50 one from Taobao will do) and take the average of three measurements. The genuine system will display the activation time and location of that serial number, such as “2024-06-15 14:23 Registered in Pudong New Area, Shanghai.” If it only shows the cold words “Genuine,” it is likely the result of a forged database.

Finally, a killer tip: use your fingernail to forcefully scratch the serial number area. Genuine products use a three-layer UV-cured ink; scratching off the surface layer will reveal a hidden brand logo; counterfeits are either unscratched or the base plastic material is directly exposed.
